It is indigenous to Europe and Asia but now grows almost all over the world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe name chamomile comes from two Greek words, Chemos and Melos, meaning ‘ground apple’, and in fact, the flowers do actually smell a little of apple if you rub them between your fingers. There are many varieties of chamomile, the two most commonly used with therapeutic applications are Roman chamomile; \u003ci\u003eChamaemelum nobile\u003c\/i\u003e and Blue German chamomile; \u003ci\u003eMatricaria chamomilla, \u003c\/i\u003ewhose name is derived from the Latin word \u003ci\u003eMatrix\u003c\/i\u003e, meaning womb and reflects the strong connection which this medicinal herb has always had to women's health.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eChamomile's history as a medicinal herb goes back a long way. Many references to its healing powers can be found among the Germanic people, Egyptians, and Greeks and it was well-known and used throughout the Roman Empire.
