The bright blue shining flowers appear in thick clusters from June until August. Because it's so rich in nectar Borage is considered one of the best plants for attracting bees.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eOriginating in Asia Minor it grows abundantly in almost all parts of the world. It grows prolifically but never excessively, its growth always remains well ordered.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt is a well-known herb recognised and used for over 1500 years. It has an affinity with lymph and can cause sluggish or stagnant processes to flow again.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eToday the borage plant is primarily grown and harvested for the very valuable oil found in its seeds. It is one of the richest sources (24%) of the omega-6 fatty acid Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eFor the Skin\u003cbr\u003eClinically, borage oil has been shown to be an effective agent for treating skin disorders and alleviating the redness, inflammation, and moisture loss associated with dry and dehydrated skins. Difficult skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne and dermatitis have improved or corrected in studies with the use of GLA. There is ample evidence showing that borage oil has a significant effect in combating inflammation in acne and rosacea conditions. It’s also been reported that it is effective in supporting trans epidermal water loss and the excessive and pathological growth of skin cells associated with psoriasis.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAlong with its high GLA content, it also contains linoleic acid which helps prevent wrinkles and premature ageing. It has a broad range of phytochemicals including potent antioxidants ferulic acid, vitamins A and C, and barrier supportive B vitamins, including niacin to restore the intracellular moisture barrier of skin that is either chronically dry or has been environmentally damaged.
